The Master Craftsmen Who Sculpted and Restored the Thewasuwan Phrommasutithep

A record of the origins of the Thewasuwan Phrommasutithep Thada, the first such image at Wat Chulamanee — sculpted in Phetchaburi stucco in B.E. 2532 (1989) by Master Thongruang Em-ot, and restored in B.E. 2564 (2021) by Master Thawan Chanhom.

The Thewasuwan Phrommasutithep Thada, the first such image at Wat Chulamanee, was sculpted in white Phetchaburi stucco in the year B.E. 2532 (1989). Later, in B.E. 2564 (2021), Wat Chulamanee restored it, using Phetchaburi stucco throughout the restoration.

The Master Craftsmen

  • Sculpted (B.E. 2532 / 1989): Master Thongruang Em-ot, National Artist in Visual Arts (B.E. 2554 / 2011), a native of Phetchaburi province

  • Restored (B.E. 2564 / 2021): Master Thawan Chanhom, a native of Samut Songkhram province — restored entirely in Phetchaburi stucco
