A Senior Teacher's Tale — The Traisaranakhom Yantra in a Dream, and the Prophecy of the Ninth Novice
A tale about Luang Pho Itthi of Wat Chulamanee — a senior teacher who first met him in a dream, in which he was shown how to inscribe the Traisaranakhom (Triple Refuge) yantra, and the prophecy that Luang Pho Yai (Chun Abhinando) of Wat Tham Khuha Sawan made concerning the ninth novice.

Published on 1 August B.E. 2567 (2024), on the occasion of Luang Pho Itthi Bhaddacāro, Abbot of Wat Chulamanee, receiving the royally conferred ecclesiastical rank of Phra Racha Khana of the ordinary grade, meditation branch, with the title Phra Samut Wachirasophon (Vi.).
Meeting Luang Pho for the first time in a dream
On waking, he went about searching for who this monk might be and where he was to be found, until he learned that the monk resided at this very temple. Arriving, he found him seated receiving visitors in his kuti, and could do nothing but sit and wait. In the meantime he saw Luang Pho take up a sheet of paper, write upon it, fold it into a brown envelope, then call him over and hand him the envelope.
Luang Pho said, "Do you remember it now?" Having received it, he opened it and was struck dumb by what lay before his eyes — for upon the paper was the Traisaranakhom yantra, exactly as it had been taught to him in the dream, without a single character out of place!!
This is but a fragment of the direct experiences, lying beyond cause and above reason as ordinary worldly folk may perceive them, that occur again and again.
The prophecy concerning the ninth novice
Going back to the days when Luang Pho was still a young novice: on one occasion, nine novices in all invited one another to go and pay respects to Luang Pho Yai (Chun Abhinando) of Wat Tham Khuha Sawan, Lopburi Province.
It was said that Luang Pho was a monk possessed of higher knowledge, and that from birth he bore upon the soles of his feet the mark of a wheel as his distinguishing sign. Whenever lay devotees came seeking his loving-kindness and help, he would as a rule press his foot against each and every one of them.
The eight young novices were treated in just the same way, all of them pressed away with his foot — but with the ninth novice, he alone was poked upon the head with a finger.
The eight novices, puzzled, asked Luang Pho, and he replied:
The prophecy
"All eight of you will have cause to leave the robes and return to lay life. There is only the ninth novice alone who will remain long in the robes and become the abbot of a temple, and who will then be renowned for his mastery of the sacred sciences until he is known throughout the whole country!!!"
The prophecy fulfilled in every particular
To this day the prophecy has come to pass in every particular. We bow in felicitation to the ninth novice of that day, who on this occasion has received the royally conferred ecclesiastical rank of Phra Racha Khana of the ordinary grade, meditation branch.
