A photo record of the propitiation rite (buang suang) for Tao Wessuwan Chatumaharachika at Wat Chulamanee — Sunday 28 February B.E. 2564 (2021), with the offering tables of the participants set out in their thousands across the monastery grounds.
The propitiation rite for Tao Wessuwan Chatumaharachika of Wat Chulamanee was performed on Sunday 28 February B.E. 2564 (2021) at Wat Chulamanee, Bang Chang Subdistrict, Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Province.
This set of photographs records the setting of the ceremonial ground and the offerings from early morning, the offering tables of the participants ranged across the whole monastery ground each marked with its own numbered flag, the brahmin conducting the propitiation, the monks sprinkling holy water and scattering flowers over the offerings throughout the ground, and on to the dragon dance offered before the image and the firecrackers offered before Tao Wessuwan.
A metal-casting rite was also performed within the grounds, with the furnace and moulds set up on site; the monks empowered the sacred metal plates held in bowls linked by the sacred thread before the metal was placed into the crucible.
