A photo record of the 7th great propitiation ceremony (buang suang) offered to Tao Wessuwan at Wat Chulamanee — hundreds of offering tables filling the ceremony ground, the brahmins reciting the invocation, and the monks sprinkling holy water — Sunday 1 March B.E. 2569 (2026).
The 7th great propitiation ceremony offered to Tao Wessuwan of Wat Chulamanee was held on Sunday 1 March B.E. 2569 (2026) at Wat Chulamanee, Bang Chang Subdistrict, Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Province.
Beneath the large roofed pavilion the attendees, most dressed in white, arranged hundreds of offering tables filling the space — with bai sri, trays of marigolds and roses, fruit, drinking water and sacks of rice; while the principal offering table was laid out in the Chinese tradition, with a boiled chicken, seafood, food trays dressed with flags, candles and flower petals.
Brahmins and officiants in white with gold sashes recited the propitiation invocation, accompanied by a ceremonial ensemble blowing the conch and beating the bandho drum; the monks then sprinkled holy water and scattered flower petals along the offering tables, and gilded and tied red sashes on the images of Tao Wessuwan.
The ritual enclosure also enshrined royal portraits beside a Buddha image with a “Long Live” sign, before the ceremony moved in its final part to the open ground before the ubosot where the images of Tao Wessuwan and other principal deities are enshrined.
