Amulet Consecration Ceremony, Wat Chulamanee, 3 October B.E. 2563 (2020)

Date
3 October 2020

A photo record of the consecration (Buddhābhiṣeka) of several series of amulets of Wat Chulamanee, including the Tao Wessuwan Chatumaharachika champi-shaped medal of B.E. 2563 — Saturday 3 October B.E. 2563 (2020), with senior monks seated in meditation empowering the amulets throughout the ceremony.

The consecration of the amulets of Wat Chulamanee was held on Saturday 3 October B.E. 2563 (2020) at Wat Chulamanee, Bang Chang Subdistrict, Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Province.

This set of photographs records the preparation of the ceremonial ground in the great pavilion in the middle of the temple courtyard — the ratchawat railings and tiered umbrellas set in place, banana and sugarcane stems bound to them, the sacred thread strung as a net across the whole ceiling, dozens of Tao Wessuwan images arrayed on the marble platform, and framed posters of the several amulet series ranged along the tables — followed by the inscribing of the gold plates, the lighting of the victory candle, the senior monks seated in meditation empowering the amulets in the evening, and the sprinkling of holy water along the whole range of amulets after nightfall.
