A photo record of the propitiation of the nine planetary deities and the Suat Noppakhro (chanting to the nine planetary deities) at Wat Chulamanee — Sunday 20 December B.E. 2563 (2020), with the lighting of the votive candles in the nine colours of the planetary deities after nightfall.
The propitiation of the nine planetary deities and the Suat Noppakhro (chanting to the nine planetary deities) of Wat Chulamanee were performed on Sunday 20 December B.E. 2563 (2020) at Wat Chulamanee, Bang Chang Subdistrict, Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Province.
This set of photographs records the setting of the ceremonial ground and the offerings during the day, the monks chanting the blessings while holding commemorative fans painted with each of the nine planetary deities upon its own mount, the lighting of the candles in many colours set in the bowls of holy water, the empowerment of the amulets brought into the rite, and on into the evening, with the participants wearing the sacred thread seated across the whole ground and the rows of hundreds of votive candle bowls burning together along their full length.
