Date

A photo record of the metal-pouring rite to cast the replica of Phra Phuttha Chinnarat at Wat Chulamanee — Thursday 23 July B.E. 2563 (2020), from the propitiation rite and the chanting of blessings in the morning through to the pouring of the metal in the late afternoon, among a gathering of thousands.

The metal-pouring rite to cast the replica of Phra Phuttha Chinnarat of Wat Chulamanee was held on Thursday 23 July B.E. 2563 (2020) at Wat Chulamanee, Bang Chang Subdistrict, Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Province.

This set of photographs records the day from the preparation of the sacred metal plates and the propitiation offering tables in the morning, the monks chanting blessings with the lay devotees holding the sacred cord throughout the pavilion, and the offering of requisites, through to the metal-pouring in the late afternoon — the great mould of the image surrounded by bamboo scaffolding, the founders lifting crucibles of molten metal and passing them along the scaffolding, and the monks and lay devotees together dropping gold leaves into the crucibles at the auspicious moment — closing with the sprinkling of lustral water in the evening.
