A photo record of the metal-pouring ceremony for the casting of the great Tao Wessuwan image at Wat Chulamanee — Thursday 16 March B.E. 2560 (2017), from the propitiation rite in the ceremonial ground and the lighting of the victory candle through to the smelting of the alloy and the pouring of the metal.
The metal-pouring ceremony for the casting of the great Tao Wessuwan image of Wat Chulamanee was held on Thursday 16 March B.E. 2560 (2017) at Wat Chulamanee, Bang Chang Subdistrict, Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Province.
This set of photographs records the laying out of the offerings and the propitiation rite in the ceremonial ground, the lighting of the victory candle, the great casting mould and the smelting furnaces standing in the middle of the ceremonial ground, and the chanting of the monks with the elder masters seated in meditation, amid the assembled Sangha, the disciples, and the many lay devotees robed in white who came to join the ceremony.
